Dictionary definition of encroacher is
To take another's possessions or rights gradually or stealthily: encroach on a neighbor's land.
Rama occupies a very considerable place in our daily life of India and in the religious history of the world. He is the embodiment of righteousness and is believed to be the incarnation of the solar aspect of Vishnu. Even in death "Ram Nam Satya Hai" (The name of Ram is truth) is commonly chanted while carrying a dead body to the cremation ground in India.
Statement of Sagarika has hurt religious sentiments of millions of Hindus across globe especially during such ‘troubled times’.
Media Watch strongly demand Sagarika and her employer IBN should apologize to the nation.

Undoubtedly Sagarika should apologize to the Nation and to her family too, especially her children who obviously are not going to a Mosque or Church for social discipline. Nor would I assume they conduct themselves as live-in couples as in the West thus imbibing a nomadic culture. Thus, staying within the parameters of a Hindu social norm, in a secular but Hindu country, and in a profession demanding utmost ethics, Sagarika has gone beyond all norms of tolerance and knee-jerked herself into a controversy that could have been easily avoidable. Whether it was intended or not is not to be comprehended. That she did toy with the sentiments of a Majority faith is in bad taste. In a country where legends like M.F. Husseins found it difficult to live with all available protection State could provide, just because of hurting the sentiments of Hindu community should be an example for her when hurling humiliating and hurting remarks. A simple question to her - would she dare stutter anything about Mohammed or Islam - ever? She would be history by now if so. It is the Hindu "Sampradaya" of tolerance that has prompted only written admonishing than physical harm! She has broken media ethics as well by sputtering menacing comments at a religion that is predominant where she literally eats, breathes, works, lives and takes care of her two children. For her unscrupulous behavior, she has to be reprimanded.
ReplyDeleteNothing sort of a public apology should be entertained. Yes, her employer too should tender a public apology to the Nation for permitting one of their topmost executives bicker ruthlessly against Hindus with her uncontrolled mouth!
